You can purchase tickets when you arrive in Bermuda or in advance if you like. Local buses are also available, and Bermuda is safe and easy to explore on your own. In the video below, I have a walk through of the Clocktower Mall and some of the local shops you’ll discover.

Popular Travel Advice

Motorized scooters and pedal bikes are popular choices for those who prefer a more active mode of transportation. Alternatively, you can opt for buses, taxis, or carriage rides if you are looking for comfort and convenience. Navigating the Bermuda cruise port and its surroundings presents numerous options tailored to your preference.

Things to do near the cruise ship in Bermuda – Royal Naval Dockyard/King’s Wharf

If you or your children have dreamed of swimming with dolphins and learning about them, this is offered within walking distance of the ship. Just note that the last day in Bermuda is always busier around the cruise port/Dockyard area. St. George is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and this is a good place to do a walking tour. You’ll find historical landmarks and museums, including the Tucker House Museum, The Unfinished Church and Fort-St. I suggest going a bit early as the ferry line does get long and it will be crowded. The ferry is 5$ per person each way, however depending on what you are planning during your visit to Bermuda, it may be worth buying a multi day pass for the ferry and bus.

Viking Ocean restarts with cruises around Bermuda and Iceland in June

My husband and I first walked through this Moongate in 2008 during our first visit to Bermuda by cruise. The Dockyard area near the cruise ship has quite a lot to do and see, however do plan your Bermuda itinerary carefully. If you’re planning a day, consider coming here for a casual lunch or dinner after visiting Crystal Caves or another sight. As you arrive in Hamilton, you’ll see Front Street, the main street lined with colorful pastel buildings facing the harbour. Hamilton is a great place to shop for jewelry, clothing, crafts made by local artisans, souvenirs and rum. Bermuda is not a budget vacation destination, so if your funds are limited, you may want to return to your ship for meals and perhaps just purchase a few snacks while ashore.

Tours Excursions Transportation:

Since you are cruising, try to plan your day so that you can take advantage of eating some meals on the ship and some meals in Bermuda. Other shops in Dockyard include a rum cake shop and the glass blowing shop where they demonstrate their work. Some great clothing stores feature nautical themed clothing and made in Bermuda jewelry, candles and other collectibles. The Clock-tower Mall, which is visible in many of the the pictures you’ll see of the Bermuda Cruise Port, is filled with small local shops. If you want to bring back some Bermuda perfume, some artist’s paintings or prints, handmade jewelry and other crafts, this is the place to find it.

Also here are the Bermuda Maritime Museum and the Dolphin Quest (water attraction), several restaurants. Port's new (second and larger) dock was inaugurated in April 2011 and has capacity to handle the world's largest passenger ships. Nestled on the south shore, in Southampton parish, Horseshoe Bay is probably the top-rated tourist destination in Bermuda famous for its beautiful soft sand beaches and picture-perfect setting. Surrounded by picturesque limestone cliffs, this horseshoe-shaped pink beach is great for swimming and snorkeling, so you should expect large crowds during the summer months. There are numerous shipwrecks and colorful coral reefs around the island boasting incredible wildlife teeming with parrotfish, turtles, butterflyfish, and snappers. Many of those reefs are located in shallow waters allowing you to snorkel from the beach, yet my best snorkeling experiences have been from a boat.

What used to be a railway track once, is now converted into a fantastic walking trail in Bermuda. In 1948 the Bermuda government closed down the railways as they thought it was no longer required. And in 1984 they transformed this into a fantastic trail for the walkers and cyclists.

Out on the pier, turn right for visitors’ info, maps & printed guides to tourist sites - freely available. Embarking on a cruise to Bermuda offers a blend of adventure, relaxation, and the unique charm of island life. To ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience, careful planning is essential. With the right preparation, you can ensure a smooth sailing experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty and culture of Bermuda. Whether you’re soaking in the city’s lively atmosphere or using it as a stepping stone to Bermuda’s natural wonders, Hamilton is a city that welcomes all. Another cultural gem is the Bermuda Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity. Located in Hamilton, this Anglican cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic architecture. Step inside to admire the beautiful stained glass windows and intricate woodwork.

Attending a service or a musical performance here can be a serene and uplifting experience. Flanagan’s Irish Pub serves traditional Codfish & Potatoes breakfast or stop by The Pickled Onion, both are located on Front Street overlooking Hamilton Harbour. You will arrive on Front Street, the main strip of Hamilton where you will find plenty of shopping and restaurants to choose from. If you would prefer to drive a car, there are also electric car rentals for hire. Current Vehicles, Bermuda Rental Car Ltd., Localmotion and Rugged Rentals are great examples that offer four-wheeled, eco-friendly options. Remember to ride safely if you do choose to rent a motorbike during your time in Bermuda.

The only public transportation you can take from the airport to the Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda is the local, island-wide bus. There are several buses, but keep your eyes peeled for those with blue tops as those are the ones that go to the cruise port. It also has an impressive lookout point for views of the island from the wildlife observation tower on its premises. King’s Wharf Bermuda is one of 2 ports that receive cruise ships, depending on the size.

Another popular restaurant in Bermuda is The New Woody’s, which serves delectable dishes and a Bermuda fish sandwich that captures the essence of the island’s culinary scene. Explore the Bermuda Cruise Port Guide and discover a range of exciting activities to enjoy during your visit. Begin your adventure by exploring the Crystal & Fantasy Caves, where you can marvel at underground caves and crystal formations.

The island boasts a range of attractions, from historical landmarks and charming towns to pristine nature reserves and world-class golf courses. Whether you’re a history buff, an adventure seeker, or simply someone looking to relax and unwind, Bermuda has something for everyone. Small cruise ships may dock at the capital of Hamilton or the town of St George.

Consider taking advantage of shore excursions offered by the cruise lines or explore independently to make the most of your time in Bermuda. Another popular option for reaching the cruise ports is by using public transportation. Bermuda has an extensive bus and ferry network that connects major points on the island, including the cruise ports. The bus system is convenient, affordable, and operates from early morning until late evening. The main bus terminal in Hamilton serves as a hub, allowing you to transfer to buses heading towards the Royal Naval Dockyard or St. George’s. Ferry services are also available from Hamilton, providing a scenic way to reach the various ports.

If you rather choose to stay dry, you can admire the colorful reefs and wrecks through the many glass-bottom boat tour options. There is a free trolley service from the ship through the Dockyards at King’s Wharf. It is very convenient for people with walking difficulties as it makes several stops along the way so you can hop on/hop off. It allows you to easily access some of the Dockyard’s restaurants and places of interest, however, they operate every minutes and might be crowded. Transportation tokens can be also paid directly on the bus or ferry but you will need to have the exact fare in change.

The ideal season for visiting Bermuda is during summer when temperatures are pleasant, and the ocean water is comfortably warm. If you’re planning a vacation to Bermuda or considering a cruise, scheduling your trip between June and August, the peak months for Bermuda cruises is recommended. The best time to visit Bermuda for beaches and warm weather is from July to September. During this period, you can expect optimal conditions for enjoying the stunning beaches of Bermuda.
